Deborah Crooks has released multiple collections of original music, including 2019’s The Department of the West. The Rocking Magpie described her music as "...what Americana music is all about for me; imaginative, cinematic, informative and last but not least ... entertaining." Place-based and rooted in practice, her work is influenced by her studies of natural history, writing, voice and yoga. Along with her solo musical work, she writes and performs with the band Bay Station. Her most recent project is a bird-themed folk-opera “Flight Lessons,” which has been garnering rave reviews.
