Tri-Valley Cultural Jews' Purim Celebration
This Purim, Tri-Valley Cultural Jews, a secular humanist Jewish community, invites everyone to celebrate with a modern, inclusive twist on the traditional festivities. The event will take place on March 16th in Livermore, CA from 10:30-12, and promises to be an unforgettable day of creativity, community, and celebration.
Purim, a joyful Jewish holiday that commemorates the salvation of the Jewish people in ancient Persia, is traditionally marked by revelry, costumes, and the reading of the Megillah (the Book of Esther). However, at this Secular Humanist Purim party, attendees will experience a reimagined celebration that emphasizes fun, inclusivity, and connection — with no religious requirements or rituals.
Highlights of the Event Include:
Creative Costumes: Get creative with your costumes! Whether you’re dressing up as your favorite character from the Book of Esther or something completely unexpected, come out and strut your stuff!
Purimspiel: Join in a lighthearted, secular retelling of the Megillah, with a twist! Expect humor, modern interpretations, and performances from our teen Jewish Culture School students.
Delicious Food & Drinks: Learn to make hamantaschen, traditional Purim treats, and join us for a delicious potluck lunch. Bring your favorite dish to share!
Community Spirit: This event is about building connections in the secular humanist community while celebrating Jewish culture and values. Whether you're a lifelong member or new to the community, everyone is welcome!
