A New Dance Class Offered at Las Positas College in Livermore!
Held on Tuesdays from 2:30 - 3:30 PM
Running for 6 weeks from April 8th to May 13th
Have you ever wondered how the Vahine Tahiti (women of Tahiti) move their hips so fast in their dances? This course will teach the basic movements and steps of ‘Ori Tahiti (Tahitian dance), as well as the cultural philosophy that fuels this beautiful art. ‘Ori Tahiti has been on a centuries-long journey to evolve into what characterizes the art today: rapid hip rotations by women, sharp quick knee movements by men, elaborate costumes, the sound of the Tahitian banjo, the various percussions, and the simple joy of dancing.
