Saavan Arora is 11 years old and a 6th grader at Hastings Middle School. He started playing the baritone ukulele at the age of 4 and transitioned to the acoustic guitar at the age of 7. He lives with his parents and 5 year old sister in Upper Arlington. In addition to playing guitar, he enjoys playing the violin and trumpet, reading historical fiction, playing basketball, and watching football.
Saavan is raising funds for Sam’s Fans, a local charity with a heartfelt mission: To support and enhance Music and Art Therapy programs that serve seriously ill children and their families. Sam's Fans funds unique Music and Art Therapy programs in all seven Ohio Children's Hospitals, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Sam’s Fans was founded by Nikki McCarthy in memory of her 11-year-old daughter, Samantha, who passed away after complications from a bone marrow transplant. Inspired by Samantha’s love for music and the joy it brought her during her illness, Nikki founded Sam’s Fans to share that same sense of comfort and happiness with other children.
