Media are defined as the means of communication that reach or influence people widely (radio, television, newspapers, magazines, and the Internet). To be media literate, we ask ourselves questions such as 'Who made this?', 'Why was it made?', 'What is missing from this message?', 'Who might benefit from this message?', 'Who might be harmed by this message?'.
This workshop is designed to introduce teens to essential concepts of screen language and screen communication techniques for use in our everyday lives and create a foundation of understanding for media literacy, screen communication practices and tips. Attendees will learn and practice the core concepts of media literacy, composition and shot communication.
We value inclusion and access for all of our customers including those that may need Americans with Disabilities Act accommodations. Please complete this ADA accommodation request form at least two weeks prior to the event to make a reasonable accommodation request.
Have questions about the program? Please reach out to a staff member at the hosting location for additional information.
