Dick Goodwin’s Big Band (Sunday Concert Series at Broad River Arts Center)
The Dick Goodwin Big Band brings its incredible repertory to BRAC at 4:00 on Sunday November 24. Program selections are drawn from different decades and feature all manner of styles. The music is written especially for the ensemble by Goodwin and bassist Terry Trentham. The Big Band, with versatile vocalist Kristi Hood, boasts some of the most respected players in the area … USC music professors, SC Philharmonic Orchestra members, and top area music educators. Dr. Goodwin is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of South Carolina and the recipient of the Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award, the highest honor given by the State of South Carolina to an individual artist. Winifred (Winkie) Goodwin is also likely to be featured on piano.
