Artists for Africa, USA will hold its 12th annual Postcard Art Event on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Hilton Garden Inn in Columbia, SC. To-date, 103 local, regional and nationally known artists are participating and have submitted over 200 pieces of original artwork for sale. Tickets to the event are $35.00 in advance, $40.00 at the door, available at postcardart.org.
The evening begins with a fun-filled cocktail hour from 6:00 to 7:00 PM.
At 7:00 PM, the doors open for a gold rush style art buying event. The 4”x 6” postcard sized canvases are displayed anonymously with the artist’s signature on the back of the work. All canvases are sold for $75.00 each. Guests enjoy looking for a favorite artist’s style or finding emerging artists’ work. In addition to the paintings, works “Outside the Box” will be offered for sale, including jewelry, oversized paintings and art glass pieces. It is a wonderful opportunity to discover new artists, take home a great piece by a known artist and give new hope to underprivileged children through the arts.
About Artists For Africa
Columbia native Cooper Rust founded Artists for Africa in 2010. After volunteering as a dance instructor for Anno’s Africa in the Kibera slum, Ms. Rust relocated to Nairobi to continue her work with the children of Kenya. In addition to her dance instruction, Ms. Rust works tirelessly with Dance Centre Kenya to produce performances of classical ballet such as The Nutcracker and Giselle as well as modern and traditional African dance.
All proceeds from Artists for Africa’s Postcard Art Event go to directly support free arts education programs for orphaned and impoverished children in Kenya. Artists for Africa, Dance Centre Kenya, offer dance, music, creative writing, theater and gymnastics programs to children living in the most destitute circumstances. In 2016, Artists for Africa proudly opened The A4A House in Nairobi to provide safe, supervised housing, nutritious meals, academic support, clothing, school tuition and much more to scholarship students pursuing more intensive training in the arts.
