Contemporary Youth Orchestra presents SymphoniCLE
The night will open with a performance of Grazyna Bacewicz’ Cello Concerto No. 1 featuring our Season 30 Concerto Competition Winner, cellist Elisa Moulthrop. Commissioned works include pieces by CYO newcomers Nubia Jaime-Donjuan and Katie O’Hara LaBrie, as well as premieres, of works by local composers Cameron Sheldon and CYO’s Music Director Kris ‘skinnyk’ Morron.
Two prior CYO collaborators return to the CYO stage with commissions. Dylan Trần’s piece, 1000 Words, was composed in creative collaboration with three CYO students (Audra Incledon, Alisdair Welty, and Maria Zarjetskiy) and Cleveland Print Room students who all provided input and inspiration throughout the composition process of this community-sourced, multi-media, photo-orchestral piece. Gala Flagello’s Everything Beautiful seeks beautiful moments in the small and intimate as well as the intense and bombastic, demonstrating that beauty manifests in myriad forms...and how we can illuminate the magic that bestows it in our everyday lives.
