A graduate of Kent State University and Berea High School, Michelle Park Lazette grew up in Northeast Ohio, where the fall never lasts long enough and the best chicken paprikash is rich, creamy, and spooned over spaetzle. Her writing has appeared in The Plain Dealer (Cleveland), The Arizona Republic (Phoenix), The Desert Sun (Palm Springs), the Reading Eagle (Reading), Crain’s Cleveland Business, and other publications. In recent years, she’s won writing and storytelling accolades from the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America and the Content Marketing Awards. She received awards throughout her career for business reporting, feature writing, and general news as well. Park Lazette has written professionally for nearly two decades, first in newsrooms around the country and for the last 10 years as a corporate storyteller and marketing strategist. The author and storyteller published her apocalyptic fantasy novel, The Descended, on September 4, 2025. She has also published nonfiction (Stuff Every Bride Should Know, Quirk Books).
About the program:
If you doubt self-published authors’ credibility, join the club. Michelle Park Lazette did too, but she’s doing it anyway. Join Park Lazette for a conversation about her debut novel, "The Descended;" why she stopped querying literary agents after pitching over one-hundred and fifty people; and what she has learned through copious and methodical tracking of her sales. Sometimes, the journey we wanted isn’t what we pave.
Books will be available for sale and signing at the event.
