Author Karan Mahajan in conversation with Rohan Chhetri


Karan Mahajan is the author of "The Association of Small Bombs," which was a finalist for the National Book Award, winner of the NYPL Young Lions Fiction Award, and named one of the 10 Best Books of the Year by The New York Times Book Review. His debut novel, Family Planning, was a finalist for the International Dylan Thomas Prize. He has been selected as one of Granta’s Best Young American Novelists, and his writing has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The New York Review of Books, and other venues. He is an associate professor in Literary Arts at Brown University. Karan Mahajan will be in conversation with Rohan Chhetri, a poet, translator, and editor currently based in Cleveland. He is the Anisfield-Wolf Distinguished Visiting Writer at Case Western Reserve University. His latest book is Lost, Hurt, or in Transit Beautiful, published by HarperCollins in India and Tupelo Press in the US. A recipient of a 2021 PEN/Heim Grant, his translation of the Nepali poet Avinash Shrestha's selected poems, The Dust Draws its Face on the Wind, was published in 2024 by HarperCollins India. His poems and translations have appeared in The Paris Review, Academy of American Poets' Poem-a-Day, Poetry London, Modern Poetry in Translation, among others.
