Laurie Kilmartin is a comedian and an Emmy-nominated/WGA Award-winning writer for CONAN. She has also written for the 2025 Academy Awards ceremony, the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, The Late Late Show, and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. She has performed standup on CONAN, The Late Late Show with James Corden, Comedy Central and Showtime. Her one-hour comedy special Cis Woke Grief Slut was named one of the best comedy specials of 2024 by NPR’s Bullseye with Jesse Thorn. Major festival appearances include Just for Laughs, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Moontower Comedy Festival.
Laurie has written two books, Dead People Suck and the New York Times bestseller Shitty Mom. She and fellow comic Jackie Kashian host a popular podcast about standup comedy called The Jackie and Laurie Show. Her new album, Corset, was released at #1 on the iTunes charts. Laurie’s recent TV appearances include After Midnight (CBS), The Talk (CBS), Sherri (syndicated) and being interviewed by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton on Gutsy Women (AppleTV).
In a January 2024 profile piece, the Los Angeles Times said that “Kilmartin has become one of the most fearless, respected performer-writers in the L.A. standup scene.” Laurie is currently the host of Standups on Conan for SiriusXM.
Commonwealth Comedy Club is Cincinnati’s home for exquisitely curated live entertainment. Each week we bring you hilarious stand-up comedians, intimate concerts, unique theater productions, live podcast recordings, and so much more.
Commonwealth Comedy Club is housed in the recently renovated, historic former Tower Methodist Church, originally built in 1914. It is no longer a church! Rather, we have converted the purpose of this beautiful old building to bringing you exquisitely curated live entertainment. We have, however, gone to great lengths to preserve the original character of the building while updating for it’s new purpose. We retained all the original stained glass windows and custom-built, curved pews.
We have added a full concession stand with draft beer and wine, as well as a full bar. We partner with local Dayton, KY business Kate’s Catering for our prepared food options. We have added full lighting and sound systems, as well as a complete broadcast-quality video system for recording events and live podcasts. We are exclusively partnered with Third Rule Media to produce our recorded content.
