A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
Sunday, December 22
Pre-Service Organ Recital | 4:30 p.m.
Lessons and Carols | 5:00 p.m.
Based on a beloved service offered at King’s College in Cambridge, England, A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols takes an imaginative approach to liturgy, weaving together scripture and song, moving from prophecy to fulfillment, to tell the story of the birth of Jesus. In addition to carols sung by the congregation, the choir will sing Sussex Carol (arr. David Willcocks), Jesus Christ the Apple Tree (Eleanor Daley), I Wonder as I Wander (arr. John Rutter), Infinite Light (arr. Paul Halley), A Spotless Rose (Herbert Howells), Angelus ad Virginem (arr. Andrew Carter), Jesus, Jesus, Rest Your Head (arr. Paul Halley), Infant Holy, Infant Lowly (arr. Gerre Hancock), Glory to the Christ Child (Alan Bullard), While Mary Slept (Helena Paish). The service will also be available via live stream at https://cincinnaticathedral.com/livestream/.
The service is preceded by an organ recital featuring cathedral organist Stephan Casurella.
