Ride along with West Chester Police Department for 10 weeks at Citizen Police Academy!
Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is a series of free classes for adults who want to learn about local government operations and careers in law enforcement and public safety. Jump in the driver’s seat and take the wheel in this “101 level” introductory course, taught by real cops working your streets.
Spring session is now registering. Weekly classes meet Wednesdays, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m., starting March 19, 2025 through May 21, 2025. Apply at www.WestChesterOH.org/CPA.
Each evening begins at West Chester Police Department, 9577 Becket Road, Suite 500, unless otherwise specified. Immersive lessons, led by local law enforcement professionals, provide the opportunity to walk a mile in the shoes of a police officer. CPA also provides excellent opportunities to meet peers from nearby neighborhoods and expand your professional network of connections in a friendly, social atmosphere.
Curriculum includes: Police Operations and Organization, Patrol Functions, Criminal Investigations, Traffic Investigations, Evidence Handling and Processing, Special Investigations, Introduction to Criminal Law and Courtroom Procedure, SWAT, Firearms Simulator, plus many other subjects.
Applicants must be at least 21 years old and meet all requirements of the CPA application. Residents and people who work in West Chester, Ohio have priority, but all are encouraged to apply. Space is limited. CPA typically convenes once in spring and again in fall. Check back for more dates to be announced.
Graduates become eligible to join the West Chester Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (WCCPAAA). Alumni association members are involved with numerous ongoing opportunities, all year long, to support WCPD Community Affairs in efforts such as outreach programs, events and festivals.
