PlayGround-Chicago presents Season 3 MONDAY NIGHT PLAYGROUND in association with Theater Wit February 3, 2025, 7pm CT Theater Wit & Simulcast Topic: The Shakespeare Sequels Admission: Free (donations “We know what we are but not what we may be.” – Ophelia, Hamlet In the spirit of past topics such as “Shakespeare’s Prequels” and last year’s “Shakespeare Multiverse, ” PlayGround writers are set to take on a new sector of the Bard’s not-previously-explored canon: THE SHAKESPEARE SEQUELS. What happens after that joyous wedding at the end of every Comedy? Who cleans up the bloodbath at the end of each Tragedy? And might we see some alternative Histories, post-Act V? Join us and find out! Iago by Ana Dalipi Being Cesario by Liz Haas The Shrew Strikes Back by Toby Inoue Honeymoon by Rachel Linton The Serpent’s Tooth by Alan Maass A Tale of Such Woe by Matt Schutz Each month, from November through April, PlayGround-Chicago announces a topic and invites Chicago’s best new dramatists to write and submit original ten-page plays. The best six of these plays are presented as staged readings via Vimeo live stream on the 1st Monday of the month, featuring some of Chicago’s best directors and actors. Tickets for online viewing are admission-free and must be reserved in advance. While the events are free, PlayGround-Chicago is grateful for donations made at the time of ticket reservation in support of our programs.
