The Reclaiming Voices Survivor Art Show is designed to give voices to the experiences of survivors of sexual abuse or sexual exploitation using their personal creative artistic style to tell their story. By providing a safe space for individual expression, we hope to inspire the community, promote healing, and empower those who wish to have their voices heard.
This exhibit welcomes both professional and aspiring artists as well as anonymous submissions and is not a judged competition but rather a place to showcase the creativity and expression of survivors’ experiences through art. Our unique Art Show has grown to host over 500 attendees each year and allows healing and empowerment to survivors from all over the United States as they share their stories, via photography, painting, music, sculpting, movement, poetry and more. All of this amazing art will be showcased inside of the Sycamore Room of the award winning Morton Arboretum, Lisle, IL.
Childhood trauma often results in deep wounds that adversely affect the trajectory of people’s lives. The 7th Annual Reclaiming Voices Survivor Art Show aids in our mission to help individuals take courageous steps in their healing journey. Join us Sunday, April 27th from 10am – 4pm at the Morton Arboretum - 4100 Illinois Route 53, Lisle, IL 60532. Free admission if you mention attending the art show.
ABOUT Reclaim13
Reclaim13’s mission is to end the cycle of sexual exploitation. This cycle begins in an individual’s life, and without intervention, often continues into the next generation. Once abused, a child is more vulnerable to further abuse and, potentially, exploitation. Reclaim13 focuses on 3 main areas: healing, prevention, and engagement. The healing programs include safe housing (the only one in Illinois for minors ages 10-17), mentoring, and child and family support services (including a public Therapy Clinic, Mentoring, Support Groups and Survivor Moms program). Child sexual exploitation has potential long-term consequences in the life path of survivors. Reclaim13 intervenes in this cycle and works toward a world where all children can grow up feeling safe and loved. Visit www.reclaim13.org to learn more.
