The Black Aura A Weekend of Liberation and the Arts
The Kehrein Center for the Arts Foundation is proud to announce the return of its highly anticipated second annual event, The Black Aura: A Weekend of Liberation & Arts. This powerful celebration responds to Chicago’s call for deeper cultural identity, clarity, and meaning around Juneteenth. Held in the weekend between Juneteenth and Independence Day, Black Aura is rooted in reflection, community, art, and liberation, offering a space to honor Black history, celebrate resilience, and envision a future of collective empowerment.
This anticipated weekend will emphasize Black liberation through various immersive experiences. There will be an immersive cultural experience designed to illuminate the tensions of our shared histories, honor the struggles we've endured, and uplift the resilience that continues to define the Black experience. Through performances, the weekend highlights the radiant aura of Blackness—a creative force that speaks to the beauty, complexity, and humanity of Black people in the arts.
