A trio of Chicago groups bringing a wide range of noise to your ears: Graphics (no-wave math instrumental rock), Seaxes (noise rock) and Larvavision (improvised jazz-skronk). Graphics & Seaxes return to Sleeping Village for the second time, previously celebrating the release of Seaxes' second EP (Die Twice, The Ghost Is Clear Records). In the time since, Graphics has released their debut LP, The Great Unconfusing (Lurker Bias). Larvavision's just-released debut is also available on Lurker Bias.
Slogging through concrete swamps lined with gilded brass howls, Chicago’s Graphics find a new way into the slipstream. The quartet of James DB (No Men, Alouette), Luc Mosley (Angel Bat Dawid, Big Syn), Crawford Philleo (Brett Koontz & Truancy Club, Vitamins), and Jeff Wheeler (Inclusions, Lionshead) calculate the sharpest angles between two riffs, spilling lithe saxophone melodies across snarling guitars. Rhythms pound away at barriers, building cadences that carve out the ground. Wheeler and Mosley weave an intricate dance into kaleidoscopic sonic narratives that are simultaneously grimy and effervescent. [….] It’s all such a weird, good time.
Seaxes construct and execute paranoid, apocalyptic noise rock. The trio of Cam Daigle (Teeth Kids), Cooper Glodoski (Teeth Kids) and Ron Petzke (Bongripper) form an overwhelming wall of auditory anxiety, with occasional earned release. Music for today.
