Roosevelt University's Social Justice & Advocacy Day

It’s Roosevelt University's Annual Social Justice & Advocacy Day. Previously called DEI Day, Social Justice & Advocacy Day (SJA Day) is our opportunity for our community to come together and create, collaborate, and re-imagine what social justice means to us, individually and collectively. This year, we will focus on three centering elements: our being, our believing, and our belonging. As a community, we will reimagine how social justice has been instituted at our campuses, what social justice means to us for the future, and how we can presently be and live social justice every day. Our fireside chat speaker is Ernest Crim, III, a national speaker, activist, and Roosevelt alum! Ernest Crim III is an Emmy-nominated producer, Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Vanguard Award-winner, public educator, modern-day griot, and cultural competency specialist. A former public school history teacher, he is now the CEO of Crim’s Cultural Consulting, where he helps schools, organizations, and communities bridge cultural divides through teaching overlooked historical narratives. His work reaches millions online, challenging mainstream historical narratives and centering Black resilience and innovation. A survivor of a viral hate crime, Ernest turns personal pain into public purpose. A south side Chicago native, he currently resides in the Chicagoland area with his wife and four daughters. Listen, learn, and leave with strategies to help us navigate the times in which we live. We will also host an Advocacy Fair, where local, regional, and national social justice organizations will be on campus to partner with us in our work for social justice.
