This year’s theme, ‘Power in Unity,’ calls for collective action and shared responsibility in an era that demands coming together like never before. With a diverse lineup of films, interactive panels, and community-driven events, One Earth Film Festival continues to break barriers—informing, inspiring, and mobilizing audiences with tangible action steps.
The fest launches on Earth Day, April 22, with a robust celebration at Sarabande Chicago, featuring filmmaker toasts, opening remarks from Chicago Chief Sustainability Officer Angela Tovar, and a screening of Young Filmmakers winner Ocean Monologue, followed by a week of action, showcasing 25+ films at 17+ locations across the greater Chicago area. Most events are free, with select virtual options available.
The annual Earth Day Action Fair and Indoor Market at the Chicago Cultural Center will precede a screening of the acclaimed film The Grab, offering opportunities for community activism on April 27.
This year’s films spotlight bold, revolutionary environmental action—uncovering hidden battles and amplifying voices on the front lines. From investigative journalism exposing a high-stakes global war for resources to communities fighting for clean air, food justice in schools, sustainable transportation, the real cost of fast fashion, and Indigenous leaders defending sacred waters, these stories challenge, inspire, and demand collective action.
Post-screening panels will feature climate scientists, grassroots activists, filmmakers, and film subjects, fostering powerful discussions and equipping audiences with real ways to take action.
