Join us for the closing of Supraconscious Anti-Pop Toonslop, an exhibition of paintings by Louis Bardales, featuring musical guests and more, on January 23rd.
The term ‘Supraconscious’ comes from Vicente Huidobro’s creacionismo poetics—as a site of poetic inventiveness. Bardales’s work initiates a visual dialogue between the concept of the Supraconscious and an Anti-pop paradox, where the work employs the visual language of comics and cartoons traditionally associated with Pop Art, yet resists clarity and through toonslop, playfulness, absurdity, surrealism, and abstraction.
This closing marks the final opportunity to experience the full body of work at The Chicago Billiard Cafe! Join us on January 23rd at 7pm.
