Daredevil at the Wheel - Book Launch
In 1924, at the corner of Peterson and Lincoln in Chicago, Joan LaCosta sped onto the dirt track racing scene and began to change the way the sport viewed female drivers. In 1929, in the Cook County courthouse, she was convicted of armed robbery. Longtime Chicagoan Tony St. Clair details the extraordinary years in between in his new book, “Daredevil at the Wheel: the Climb and Crash of Joan LaCosta."
