Sheri Smith aka Crème Sheri Presents, "When I See, When I Hear, I Draw... Musical Muses and Others."
Sheri Smith’s artistic practice explores the fleeting nature of live music performances through works on suede board, utilizing Caran d’Ache crayons and scratch-board to depict performers in action, their instruments, and the intimate atmosphere of the venues. Each piece is created at a cafe table in the dark and reflects a ritualistic creative process that transforms time from an adversary into a liberating force, allowing Smith to work quickly during the ephemeral moments of a performance. Acknowledging the impermanence of both the moments and the lives of performers, Sheri views the series as a historical record of their contributions, with each drawing signed by the artists to signify a shared experience.
