Join us On Tuesday, Feb. 3 for the first “Donovan’s Garage” jazz event of the winter season when Evanston jazz guitarist Donovan Mixon will lead a jazz quintet in “Electro Acoustic Explorations.”
Mixon, was awarded the 2025 Mayor’s Award for the Arts in Evanston, honoring the work he does to bring great Chicago jazz to Evanston for the free “Donovan’s Garage” shows.
Performing that evening will be:
• Donovan Mixon--guitar & electric bass
• Victor Sanders--electric guitar, effects & looping f mystery guitar.” Hi
• Ultra Violet Archer--vocals & looping
• Stevenson Valentor—percussion
• Mark Feldman, violin

Mixon says “Electro Acoustic Explorations” will be “a free flowing exploratory trip, blending strings, percussion and vocals in a one-of-a-kind jazz experience.”
As always, he features an exhibition of work by a local artist. This show will feature the work of Michael Berns, a Chicago-based photographer whose work reflects his background in painting as well as a lifelong engagement with sports and visual narrative.
You’re invited! Mark your calendar for Tuesday, February 3 at the AKAR Auditorium, 2715 Hurd Ave. in Evanston. Doors open at 6 for the Berns exhibition with music from 7 to 8:30pm.
