The Symphony of Oak Park & River Forest and Chorus, conducted by Music Director Jay Friedman, will present a Choral Spectacular program featuring the Chicago-area premiere of Franz Liszt’s Missa Solemnis, at 7:30 pm Monday, April 28, at Symphony Center, 220 S. Michigan Avenue, Chicago. This work will be paired with Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy. The Liszt Missa Solemnis is one of the “forgotten masterpieces” of classical music. This will be the Symphony Center premiere of the work. Missa Solemnis is scored for full orchestra complete with organ, chorus, and four soloists. The S/OP&RF will be joined by our Symphony Chorus and City Voices, William Chin, director, The Tower Chorale, Patrick Godon, director, and soloists Susan Krout, (soprano) Sarah Ponder (mezzo-soprano), Ace Gangoso (tenor), Daniel Eifert (bass). Patrick Godon will perform the organ part in the Liszt and will also be the piano soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy.
