If you love food and history, our November program will be the cream of the crop! Join the Daniel Island Historical Society as we spill the beans about Charleston’s culinary past in a special program led by Historian Mike Hebb of the Historic Charleston Supper Club! Mr. Hebb’s presentation will cover the settlement of Charlestowne, going back to the Spanish who were in South Carolina before the English, with a perspective on the food being prepared at the time.
Mr. Hebb will also serve up details about the events and trends in cooking once Charleston gained its wealth, which largely came from a particular food often found on 17th and 18th century tables. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn more about the history of cooking in the Holy City! FREE. Tuesday, Nov. 19, 7 to 8 p.m., Church of the Holy Spirit, 299 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island.
