Did you know that Florida is home to more than 300 species of native, wild bees? 29 of these species are endemic — found only in Florida. Buzzing bumblebees come to mind, but there are also sweat bees, carpenter bees, leafcutter bees, and hundreds more. Bees pollinate 80% of all flowering plants on Earth. Learn the major components of a successful bee garden and how to assist the bees by providing shelter, water, and choosing a diversity of native plant species to support their life cycle. This seminar is a wonderful look into the world of our bees. Learn interesting facts and ways you can protect these amazing little pollinators right in your own southwest Florida garden. Presenter: Wendy Sprague, Lee County Master Gardener Volunteer (and Beekeeper)
