3D 4 Dames - Art in Metal, Gems & Glass

Four local artists who are all instructors at the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda are presenting a special exhibit in May at the Visual Arts Center’s Rebecca Hall. The exhibit includes only 3D (3-dimensional) artwork, hence the name. More about the artists: Belinda Duclos has been designing and creating jewelry for over 20 years, with a particular passion for Native American turquoise jewelry. She finds immense joy in inspiring others through teaching diverse jewelry-making techniques. Her instructional endeavors have empowered numerous aspiring artisans to explore their own creativity and develop their skills. In addition to her jewelry expertise, Belinda ventured into stained glass art in 1986, captivated by its colors and textures. Influenced by artists like Louis Comfort Tiffany and Frank Lloyd Wright, she has developed a unique artistic style. Karyn Warner Hammock is a self-taught metalsmith with 25 years of experience. She refined her skills through books, blogs, videos, formal training, and mentorship from master artisans. Karyn has taught at the Center for Creative Arts and Delaware Art Museum for ten years, earning Master Artisan Certification from the PA Craftsmen Guild. She helped establish the Wyoming Art Coalition and later became the Exhibits Coordinator at the Visual Arts Center in Florida. Karyn teaches Precious Metal Clay and practices lapidary, glass fusing, and mixed metal wall clock creation. Bonnie Walker is an award-winning jewelry artist celebrated for her sterling silver, precious gem, and glass creations. For 29 years, she traveled in an RV to art shows nationwide, gaining recognition for her craftsmanship and unique designs. Passionate about art, Bonnie enjoys teaching and leads the popular Jewelry Art Social at the Visual Arts Center, inspiring students to explore their creativity. Additionally, she has served as the Communications Manager at the center for three years, overseeing marketing and promoting local artists to ensure its success. Susan Priess is a skilled artisan jeweler with over two decades of experience, specializing in metal craftsmanship and enameling. Discovering her passion for making jewelry, she started her own business, with designs often inspired by nature. A dedicated artist and instructor, Susan enjoys sharing her knowledge and exchanging ideas. Her works are featured at the Visual Art Center and The Cottage Art and Gift Gallery in Nokomis, Florida. She was also honored as the 3D Artist of the Month at the Harbour View Gallery in Cape Coral, Florida. The exhibit will be held in Rebecca Hall at the Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda.
