Exploring the Ten Senses

In traditional Yoga philosophy and practice, the human being is sometimes described as a building with ten doors. Five are entrance doors though which we gather information, and five are exit doors through which we express ourselves. Consciously, actively, and intentionally witnessing how these ten senses function is an important part of yoga practice, cultivated through meditation and through meditation in action—mindful movement. In the theory portion of this workshop, we will discuss and map out the ten senses and explore their connections to the five elements, the four functions of the mind, and the chakras. We will learn how the senses link us to both our inner and outer worlds, and how working with them can elevate awareness in our practice through meditation, pratyahara (the withdrawal of the senses), and more. Open to all, no experience required.
