It’s cold outside, but it’s warm at Book Arts! Come in from the cold and learn this cool structure. We’ll make two versions of this no-glue, no-sew book. The first is a pocket blizzard book – ours will be business card sized, but you will have the knowledge to customize it to fit anything. The handy pockets offer a place to store flat treasures. The second, a signature book, is a unique way to create a multi-signature book.
On the day of the blizzard in 1996 in Philadelphia, the snow piled up high in the streets and the traffic stopped dead. Nobody went to work. It was all white and quiet. A perfect day to spend in the studio.
Made from one strip of paper and using no adhesives or sewing techniques to link the pages, the Blizzard Book has pages that are like pockets. This allows for diverse content that can be removed or replaced making the book suggestive to adaptations.
– Hedi Kyle, inventor of the blizzard book
