With cardiovascular disease remaining the leading cause of death in Westchester, New York, and the United States, it raises a crucial question: How can we effectively advocate for policies and initiatives that promote CVD prevention at both the legislative and nonprofit levels? Bringing together a diverse group of leaders and experts, ranging from policymakers to nonprofit organization representatives, this panel will discuss ongoing efforts in combating cardiovascular disease. The goal is to provide insights into how legislation and community events can work hand in hand to reduce disparities and create widespread and intergenerationally impactful health initiatives.
Here are the panelists:
1. Assembly Member Josh Jensen, NYS Standing Committee on Health
2. Assembly Member Scott Gray, NYS Standing Committee on Health
3. Rachel Morris, NYS Assembly Health Committee Coordinator
4. Dr. Patrick Thomas, American Heart Association President of Westchester and Fairfield Counties Board of Directors
5. Brianna Durkee, American Heart Association Government Relations Director
6. Mandy Sandkuhler, Mended Hearts Director of Partnerships and Communications
The panel will be led by a moderator through guiding questions and end with an interactive Q&A session for a total run time of around one hour. It will take place on December 15, 2024 from 4-5PM.
