Jerusalem String Quartet

The Jerusalem String Quartet, a beloved presence on the world’s great concert stages, deploys a strong sense of drama and a striking range of tonal color to create "an extraordinary unity of sound and purpose," according to the New York Times. The Times of London described their sound as having “passion, precision, warmth, a gold blend.” Their program will include: Haydn’s Quartet in B♭-Major, Op. 50, No. 1, Shostakovich’s Quartet No. 12 in D♭-Major, Op. 133 and Brahms’ Quartet in B♭-Major, No. 3, Op. 67. The Jerusalem Quartet has a special relationship with the Shostakovich canon. In 2025, they will perform all 15 of the Russian composer’s string quartets in a series of concerts in several cities. Just before this concert, they will play the entire cycle over five days under the auspices of the Cleveland Chamber Music Society. The members hail from Belarus, Ukraine and Israel. They are Alexander Pavlovsky – first violin, Sergei Bresler – second violin, Ori Kam – viola, Kyril Zlotnikov – cello. Tickets are $40 for adults, $35 if four or more are purchased in a FlexSub subscription good at any of the three spring concerts. Those under age 18 are admitted free.
