The Yonkers Philharmonic is thrilled to announce its upcoming concert, International Voices, on Sunday, March 15, 2026 at Saunders Trades and Technical High School at 3 pm. This captivating performance is a delightful blend of classical and contemporary pieces, showcasing the extraordinary talent of the orchestra and featuring the 2025-27 American Harp Society Concert Artist, Renee Murphy.
It's a celebration of musical diversity and international artistry, crafted to resonate with audiences of all backgrounds.
Rossini's thrilling William Tell Overture was originally inspired by the legend of honest Swiss yeomanry throwing off the yoke of Austrian tyranny. Today, it’s also instantly recognizable as the theme to the Lone Ranger.
Boieldieu's Harp Concerto in C Major Op. 82 has deep roots in operatic theatre with its melodic themes, a lovely haunting feel, and poignant moments relying on great technical ability building to a terrific conclusion. Harpist Renee Murphy, with her exquisite technique and emotive playing, will captivate the audience. She is the First Prize laureate of the 30th Soka-Nippon International Harp Competition, the American Harp Society’s National Competition Young Professional and Advanced Divisions, and a recipient of the 2024 Lyon & Healy Awards.
Capping the afternoon is Leonard Bernstein's iconic West Side Story Symphonic Suite capturing the spirit of the beloved musical, with its dynamic rhythms and heartfelt melodies, transporting the audience to the streets of New York City where love and rivalry intertwine.
“Our ‘International Voices’ concert highlights the richness of global music traditions,” said Maestro Ari Rudiakov Music Director of the Yonkers Philharmonic. “We are excited to bring together such a diverse program that not only showcases the orchestra but also features the incredible talents of Renee Murphy.
Whether you are a lifelong fan of classical music or a newcomer exploring the wonders of orchestral performances, “International Voices” promises an unforgettable afternoon.
