Out of Many, One: A Community Installation

Join scenic designer Dan Daly for a collaborative, drop-in workshop celebrating America 250 and drawing inspiration from Edward Hicks’s Washington Passing the Delaware, on view in Ever Becoming: Our Stories, Our America. Color your own version of the painting, learn how composition, symbolism, and environment shape meaning, and contribute to a community mural in our Greene Education Center. Dan Daly is Assistant Professor of scenic design in the Theater Arts department at SUNY New Paltz, where he teaches design courses and mentors student productions. A proud member of the National Queer Theater Collective, he regularly designs for its OBIE Award–winning Criminal Queerness Festival. His work has appeared Off-Broadway at SoHo Playhouse, at SXSW with Third Rail Projects, and at RuPaul’s DragCon for Monét × Change. Daly is also the founder of OFO Theater, creating experimental performances in unconventional spaces. Image: Edward Hicks (American, 1780–1849). Washington Passing the Delaware, ca. 1835–1840.
