The Youth Community Outreach Program (Y-COP) will host its ninth annual gala at the Greentree Country Club, in New Rochelle, on Thursday, September 26, at 6:00 pm. Y-COP’s annual gala will feature honoree presentations, silent auction, raffle drawing, magician, dancing, and more. Tickets are $175 per person and can be purchased at YCOPMNVY.ORG/2024-ANNUAL-BENEFIT-RECOGNITION-GALA/. Proceeds from the gala will benefit Y-COP’s After School, Summer Day Camp, Out of School Care, Girls’ Empowerment Group, Youth Development Basketball, and Counselors-in-Training programs as well as teen mentoring and community service and outreach.
The Gala is Y-COP’s largest annual fundraiser and makes it possible to provide partial scholarships for working families. Y-COP’s Board, staff, and volunteers firmly believe that no person’s financial situation should deter their access to quality childcare. Y-COP does not charge the actual cost of programs to parents, rather program costs are offset by applying for grants; soliciting in-kind donations of supplies, equipment, and services from small businesses; partnerships and collaborations with community-based organizations serving similar missions; corporate sponsorships; social services and all levels of government; dedicated public and private donors and volunteers; as well as hosting several fundraisers throughout the year.
The Y-COP Gala also is an opportunity to recognize those who support Y-COP’s mission and its efforts to increase program offerings to better meet the needs of the community. This year’s honorees include Sidney Duncombe; Greater Hudson Valley (NY) Chapter, The Links, Incorporated; Lieutenant Krista Mann; Amirah Roberts; Loretta J. Hottinger; Jennifer Vodrazka; and Linda L. Jacobs. Monique L. Harding is the Gala Committee Chairperson. For more information, please visit YCOPMVNY.org or contact Henry Wilson, Executive Director, at 914-215-3063.
“We anticipate that this year’s gala will be fun, inspiring, and a time to reconnect with who’s who in the community,” said Monique L. Harding, Y-COP Gala Committee Chairperson.
ABOUT Y-COP
Y-COP is a licensed, year-round nonprofit childcare and youth development organization providing positive programs, for at-risk youth ages five to 18, led by highly qualified, caring individuals in a safe and nurturing environment, at an affordable rate for working parents in Mount Vernon and surrounding communities. Each of Y-COP’s programs integrates academic enrichment, recreation, social skill development as well as diversity and cultural sensitivity and awareness – a rare find in childcare programs in the surrounding area.
Y-COP seeks to empower youth and their families to become productive members of society with a strong willingness to give back to the community. This past summer, about 150 campers, ages five to 13, and 25 Counselors-in-Training, ages 14 to 17, were enrolled in Y-COP’s six-week summer day camp. This fall, Y-COP’s after school program will be offered for children ages six to 12, from 3 to 6:30 pm.
