The 1959 Miles Davis album Kind of Blue is the most successful jazz recording of all time. Featuring John Coltrane on saxophone, Miles Davis on trumpet, and Bill Evans on piano the album achieved 5 x platinum status. This program features music from Miles Davis classic recordings Birth of the Cool, Porgy and Bess, Sketches of Spain, Kind of Blue and more. Davis turbulent personal life included multiple periods of heroin addiction, pimping, a series of unsuccessful marriages and criticism of his work during the electric period.
