"Celebrating Women, Before, During, After...the American Revolution"


Join Joel Farkas on Tuesday, March 17 at 7 p.m. on Zoom for a presentation on twenty-five historical women who broke the mold and proved men wrong. This program is sponsored by The Friends of the Englewood Library. Historian Joel Farkas will discuss the challenges of being a woman in the colonial era including, medicine and childbirth, and the lives of our country's early First Ladies. An expert on our founding fathers and mothers, Joel Farkas will weave the tale of Revolutionary War-era women from Matriarchal to Patriarchal. He’ll discuss WHEN WOMEN “RULED”, WOMEN WHO “RULED” and highlight TWENTY FIVE WOMEN who “broke the mold” and “proved men wrong”! Mr. Farkas has lectured extensively on the American Revolution, including insights on George Washington, the Founding Fathers, the war in New Jersey, the lesser-known heroes of the Revolution, and the role and impact of women during the war. He is a Lecturer at the Lifelong Learning Institute at Fairleigh Dickinson University and a volunteer docent at Washington’s headquarters in Morristown, NJ. He received the National Park Service Centennial Volunteer Challenge Award. A collector of original historical autographs, Mr. Farkas is a graduate of Ohio State University and served as an officer in the United States Army. You MUST register to receive the link to attend.
