Help raise funds to send our local IBC winners to Memphis in January! IBC Fundraiser featuring NJBS winners - Ed Alstrom (solo/duo category) and BLUES People (band category). Ed Alstrom cooks up a tasty tonewheel storm on his latest release. Alstrom has performed with everyone from Herbie Hancock to Blood Sweat & Tears, and has been the weekend organist at Yankee Stadium since 2004. Trained exclusively as an organist (unlike many keyboardists), the New Jersey native navigates the mighty B-3 with an ease that belies its myriad possibilities. One listen to his hearty Hammond work on this grooving set, and you’ll understand what the buzz is all about. 2023 and 2024 NJBS International Blues Challenge champions and 2024 IBC/Memphis semifinalists, BLUES People is a NY/NJ blues band featuring...KELTON COOPER (vocals/guitar), MIKE GRIOT (bass), RON THOMPSON, (keys) and GENE LAKE (drums). Early comparisons to the Meters, Luther Allison, Keb Mo' and Buddy Guy are starting to roll in! Having released two promotional singles in 2022 ("The Skin I'm In" and "Troubled Times"), the band has independently released its 2024 album "The Skin I'm In" which was recently nominated in the Blues Blast 2024 Music Awards for Best New Artist Debut Album. These seasoned veterans have certainly paid their dues; as individual side men, they have supported a who’s-who of touring “A-listers”, including Sue Foley, Josh Smith, Kool & the Gang, Ruf’s Blues Caravan, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Bo Diddley, Jr. and Michael Hill’s Blues Mob… just to name a few
