Tuesday Treasure: Owls Football

Anyone from Connecticut is familiar with the everlasting struggle between Patriots and Giants fans, but imagine if Westport had its very own team? Well, it once did! In the first half of the twentieth century, Westport, and Fairfield County more broadly, was home to a thriving semi-professional football community. Among those teams stood the Westport Owls, a black and orange sporting team with a colorful story. Join our Assistant Director Nicole Carpenter as she shares some of the Owl’s memorabilia from the Museum’s collection. Tuesday Treasures is an online programming series showcasing objects from our collection not normally on public view. See and hear the stories behind some of the most unique, mysterious, and impactful artifacts in our community. To watch live and ask questions, join our YouTube broadcast below. This is a free event, no registration required. Can’t join us live? No problem!
