Colonial Portraits

As the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence approaches, the Kellogg Environmental Center & Osborne Homestead Museum will begin its commemoration with a series of lectures by historian and author Richard Worth. His next lecture will tell a story of colonial America through the eyes and writings of leading—now largely unremembered—politicians, fur traders, interpreters, and peacemakers who shaped the colonial period. Come to this lecture at the Kellogg Environmental Center on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. Richard Worth is the main researcher and writer of the Osborne Homestead Museum newsletter, Museum Musings, and author of several children’s books. These include “Voices of Colonial America: New France,” and “Voices of Colonial America: Louisiana.” In addition, he has written “Colonial Delaware,” “The Slave Trade in America,” “Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr,” and “Slave Life on the Plantations.” This lecture will be Colonial Portraits, which describes various important members of colonial society from 1650 to 1787.
