This exciting culinary experience and exclusive documentary screening of "A Culinary Uprising, the Story of Bloodroot"celebrates the longest-lasting feminist, queer, vegan restaurant and bookstore, and illuminates the legacy of its pioneering proprietors, Selma Miriam and Noel Furie.
Located in the Black Rock neighborhood of Bridgeport, Connecticut, Bloodroot closed its doors in 2025 after 46 years, shortly after the passing of Selma Miriam. Joylark Kitchen opened its doors in November of 2025, just a short distance down the road from Bloodroot in Fairfield, offering a plant-based menu and filling a void in the area's culinary landscape with its fine dining vegan cuisine.
Joylark is excited to welcome Noel Furie and the "A Culinary Uprising" documentary team to Joylark Kitchen for this inspiring event.
