Harding High School Celebrates 100th Anniversary with First Theatrical Production in Decades FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE BRIDGEPORT, CT – Jan 31, 2026 – Harding High School is proud to announce the return of theatrical arts to its campus with the debut performance of She Kills Monsters this school year. This production marks the school's first major theatrical play in decades and coincides with a significant milestone: the 100th anniversary of Harding High School. The production of Qui Nguyen's She Kills Monsters is a testament to the talent and dedication of Harding High's student body. The show is entirely student-performed, choreographed, and designed, providing an invaluable, hands-on learning experience that spans multiple disciplines. "Bringing back theater to Harding High School, especially during our centennial celebration, is incredibly exciting," said Director and theatre teacher Vanessa Mills. "The themes of this particular play—grief, family, and self-discovery—are deeply relevant to our students. Seeing them take full ownership of the performance, from the stage to the choreography, is inspiring and showcases their immense creativity." She Kills Monsters is a dynamic and popular show, often performed at the collegiate and competitive level. By tackling a show of this caliber, Harding High School is preparing students for potential career pathways in the arts, offering a practical introduction to the rigors and rewards of professional production. The play follows the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes discovers Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she is thrust into an imaginary world of goblins, zero-equipped warriors, and 90s pop culture. This blend of fantasy and reality allows students to explore complex emotional narratives through the lens of a high-energy adventure.
