Womanimation! MassArt Encore Edition 2025
A special edition comes to Massachusetts College of Art and Design on Saturday April 5th from 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the Design and Media Center (DMC) Lecture Hall, on 621 Huntington Avenue in Boston. The event is free and open to the MassArt community and the general public.
In the length of a typical 90-minute feature film, this special edition of fourteen films from twelve countries will entertain and challenge, with visual styles from stop motion to computer animation to hand-drawn, often blending styles and materials to achieve distinctive looks, with a diversity of thematic and visual motifs.
A slideshow introducing the filmmakers will precede the program, and audience members will be given ballots to select their favorite films of the program. DJ Madame B will weave soundscapes created by women across the globe with the screening.
Festival organizers from MergingArts Productions, which produces the festival, will be in attendance to introduce the program.
