Celebrate Extraordinary Women at the Alden Kindred's Speak for Thyself Awards Dinner

The Alden Kindred of America's 18th Speak for Thyself Awards will recognize three women who, in the spirit of Mayflower Passenger Priscilla Mullins Alden, lead the way to promote extraordinary outcomes in their communities by speaking on behalf of themselves and others. The awards dinner honors Jennifer Cummings Hillery, Michele Pecoraro, and Kimberly Phipps-Nichol. Recognized across the South Shore, Michele Pecoraro, of Plympton, is a distinguished leader in cultural tourism and non-profit administration. As Executive Director of Plymouth 400, she championed Indigenous representation, adapted commemorations during COVID-19, and launched Massachusetts 400. Her previous roles include VP at Cape Cod Chamber and Marketing Manager at Plimoth Patuxet Museums. Now, she provides consulting services through Ideaz Ablaze, LLC. Jennifer Cummings Hillery, of Reading, is the Co-Founder of Redwood Speaking LLC where she empowers clients to master public speaking by blending her experience with courtroom advocacy and storytelling. Awarded the Justice Ruth Abrams Award as an Assistant District Attorney, Jennifer has also won a Moth StorySLAM and appeared on “Stories from the Stage.” A Skidmore and Northeastern Law graduate, she is an active member of her community and a member of the Alden Kindred. Kimberly Phipps-Nichol, of Houston, Texas, founded Blue Water Studio, which transforms scarred spaces into revitalized communities. She also creates silk scarves through RoKi Design, a company she co-founded. Kimberly is a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a Rotarian, a stroke survivor, a community organizer, and a member of the Alden Kindred. Duxbury High School senior Maeve Downes was selected as this year's "Aspiring Priscilla." Maeve is very involved in disability advocacy, sustainability, and music. She leads clubs fostering inclusivity and eco-friendly practices, teaches yoga, volunteers with animals and children, and has performed as a bassist at venues like Carnegie Hall. She plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy. To purchase tickets to attend this event or for information about how to be a sponsor, please visit www.alden.org.
