Twelfth Night

After a hiatus of several years, Actors From The London Stage return to campus with their Fall 2024 Tour. Five of England’s top Shakespearean actors bring the Bard’s Twelfth Night to Wellesley College for a week-long Educational Residency culminating in three FREE performances: September 26th, 27th, and 28th at 7pm at the Diana Chapman Walsh Alumnae Hall Auditorium, 106 Central St., Wellesley College, 781-283-2000. The Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS) present Twelfth Night in a unique actor-driven production, featuring actors Shona Babayemi, Sarah Finigan, Sam Jenkins-Shaw, Thuliswa Magwaza, and Hayden Wood. In this classic Shakespeare masterpiece, Viola and her twin brother Sebastian–both played by Magwaza–have been shipwrecked; each believes the other to be drowned. Viola disguises herself as a young man and, under the name of Cesario, gets a job as a servant for the Duke, Orsino, but she begins to fall in love with him. Actors From The London Stage (AFTLS) was founded in 1975 at the University of California, Santa Barbara, by Professor Homer “Murph” Swander and the renowned stage & screen actor Sir Patrick Stewart. One of the oldest established touring Shakespeare companies in the world, the AFTLS company ethos and mission is simplicity at its finest. Five actors take the stage, with minimal props and costumes, and direct themselves in a performance of a complete Shakespeare play, with each actor portraying multiple roles. Coming from such prestigious companies as the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre of Great Britain and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, these classically trained actors are equally dedicated to presenting first-rate professional performances, and to working with students to bring Shakespeare’s work to life.
