Poetry Salon with Claire Keyes Featuring the Work of Forrest Gander


This month, the Poetry Salon will be reading and discussing the poems of Forrest Gander. Gander was born in the Mojave Desert and lives in California. With degrees in geology and literature, he taught at Harvard University and Brown University. Gander is a translator and the author of many books of poetry, fiction and nonfiction. Gander received the Pulitzer Prize, the Best Translated Book Award and fellowships from the Library of Congress, the Guggenheim, Whiting and United States Artists Foundations. Gander’s books, often concerned with ecology and intimacy, include “Mojave Ghost” (2024), “Twice Alive” (2021), “Be With” (2018) and the desert novel “The Trace” (2015), all with the publisher New Directions.
