Composer, Aline Shader (1936-2002), was a beloved drama teacher, director and choreographer in the Newton Public Schools and an artist-in-residence in the Greater Boston area.
"SCENES FROM THE REVOLUTION" was originally written in 1975 for 5th and 6th graders at Bowen Elementary School in Newton Centre MA to commemorate the Bicentennial in 1976 and to help students learn about this pivotal period in American history.
Many of Aline's students, now in their 50s and 60s are still singing these songs today and say that what they remember most about the Revolutionary period is from this musical.
"SCENES FROM THE REVOLUTION," an engaging musical for all ages, tells the story of the American Revolution through a series of musical numbers and historical scenes from the Boston Tea Party to Paul Revere's Ride, to the Battles of Lexington and Concord to the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
The songs are heartwarming and entertaining. The dialogue is historically relevant and compelling.
This family-friendly musical, with 10 scenes and 10 songs, promises to be a captivating experience with a memorable message and memorable music that will linger long after the final note.
