Paul Huang, Violin & Helen Huang, Piano

Considered one of the most distinctive artists of his generation, Anna H. Wang Concert Series is proud to host Taiwan-born violinist Paul Huang for a performance at Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church on February 1, 2025. The concert will take place during this year’s Lunar New Year celebration, a time of special significance for the Taiwanese community. Huang is the recipient of the prestigious 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the 2017 Lincoln Center Award for Emerging Artists. The performance will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-concert opening with the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestras (MCYO), offering a musical experience for classical music lovers of all ages. Known for his “unfailingly attractive, golden, and resonant tone,” recent performances include an acclaimed debut at the Bravo! Vail Music Festival, performances with the Rotterdam Philharmonic under Lahav Shani, Detroit Symphony, Houston Symphony, NHK, and Dallas Symphonies, as well as recital debuts at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland and Aspen Music Festival. In Fall 2021, he became the first classical violinist to perform his own arrangement of the National Anthem at the opening game of the NFL at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., to an audience of 75,000. His debut album, “Kaleidoscope,” was released worldwide in October 2023, with a second album scheduled for release in January 2025. During the 2024-25 season, he will return to the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan, Residentie Orkest Den Haag, Hiroshima Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Tucson Symphony, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Knoxville Symphony. He will also make his London debut at Barbican Hall with the BBC Symphony. Born in Taiwan, Huang began violin lessons at the age of seven and is the recipient of the inaugural Kovner Fellowship at The Juilliard School, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees under Hyo Kang and I-Hao Lee. He is on the faculty of Taipei National University of the Arts and currently resides in New York. Major support for the Anna H. Wang Concert Series is generously provided by Dr. Lora Liu, MD, and Dr. Marilene Wang, MD. Special appreciation goes to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) for its support of this event, along with media sponsor WETA. For more about the Anna H.
