The Kent Island Heritage Society will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and whether you are one of our seasoned volunteers or a newbie, we invite you to learn more about Kent Island and its history. This training session is an opportunity for new and experienced guides (docents) to delve deeper into the history of Kent Island and our seven Historic Sites. We also need your help to encourage others who say, “I am not a local,” “I don’t know the history of Kent Island,” or “I am not a member of The Heritage Society,” by giving them the perfect opportunity to learn, meet new residents, make new friends, and help celebrate the Kent Island Heritage Society! Most tours are not large or overwhelming; rather, they consist of small groups of individuals who have an interest in our local history. We will also provide a mentor to assist you in becoming more informed about your site. We will be having a Training Session on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 10:00–12:00 in the Kent Island Room in the Kent Island Branch Library located at 200 Library Circle, Stevensville, Maryland 21666. Each Docent will receive a KIHS Docent Training Manual as a valuable reference. Please call or text Hanna Wall at 410-924-1069 or email her at [email protected] by March 4, 2025, to attend this fun and exciting educational event.
