While traces of doo-wop, experimental pop, and desert-swept psychedelia wend their way through the music at times, her core inspiration is shaped by iconic roots artists such as Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris, Neil Young, Freddy Fender, and Vic Chesnutt. She also draws heavily from the pioneers of the early alt-country scene, like Cowboy Junkies, Freakwater, and Giant Sand, lending her songs a quiet edginess and subterranean power.
