Small Plates Choreography Festival


Small Plates Choreography Festival will present a curated evening of short dance works by local and guest artists from around the country on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. and October 5 at 7:00 p.m. at Ground Floor Theatre in Austin, Texas. After having performed in cities from New York to Hawaii, Small Plates Choreography Festival is pleased to announce their debut performance in Austin, Texas, hosted by local Austin movement Artist and Assistant Director, Jennifer Williams. Jennifer is a local dance artist whose artistic endeavors are fueled by her passion for cultural diversity, human rights, and social justice. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to perform with various choreographers, dance companies and musical theater productions across the United States. Currently based in Austin, Texas, Jennifer serves as the Assistant Director of the Small Plates Choreography Festival, is a board member for the Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company, co-producer for Austin Dance Festival's Dance on Film, and a member of the Haven Movement Company. Small Plates Choreography Festival is a dance performance series that elevates the art of dance by showcasing diverse works from across the United States. It presents curated showcase-style performances in multiple cities, merging artists with the objective for them to experience the culture of each host city. The performances are followed by guided dialogues between the artists and audience, creating an intimate performing arts experience. This direct artist-audience interaction is what makes the Small Plates Festival truly special for communities nationwide. Ground Floor Theatre is a jewel box theatre nestled in the eclectic, beloved Eastside Austin neighborhood off of Springdale Road. Known for fostering an environment that strives to create equity for art, GFT’s main objective has been to create a safe space for artists to produce works focused on underrepresented communities. It is an honor for Small Plates to be able to perform in one of Austin’s most treasured performance spaces in the city. So come join us!
